During my time on council, we’ve made some progress in moving the city forward. However, there’s a lot more work to be done. With the right team that truly cares about the city, we can truly make a difference.
Current and Future Focus:
Budget Allocation
- Utilize the $1.8 million received from 2021 ARPA funds and additional 1.8 million dollars in 2022 tp repair our sewers, which have been a major problem
- Also use it to for senior programs; especially for disadvantaged seniors
Protection
- Supporting funding for the police department to obtain crime fighting technology
- Continuing to enhance our Neighborhood Watch Program
Property Value
- Developing a home ownership verification program to assist in locating rental property and making sure landlords comply with inspection requirements
- Continuing to work with city leaders on the redevelopment of Mayland and our other shopping centers
- Maintaining strong building codes and ordinances with limited use of variances to help increase property values
Senior Citizen Support
- Creating a snow removal program for seniors
- Creating a handyman volunteer program for seniors to help them stay in their homes
- Develop new and enhanced programs for disadvantaged seniors that are on a fixed income and need help repairing violations on their homes
Community Support
- Creating educational programing for our youth to include drug prevention, gang resistance and mentoring programs
