About
Robert
DeJohn
Robert J. DeJohn was born on September 24th, 1955, in the city of Mayfield Heights, to Ross Sr. and Carmella DeJohn. He is the third of five siblings and comes from a large Italian family. Growing up, Robert was surrounded by politics during his father’s 28 years in city leadership positions, including the role of Mayor of Mayfield Heights. Since then it was always Robert’s dream to continue on his father’s path and serve Mayfield Heights as a councilman. He has served on council since 2013.

Robert attended Mayfield High School and went on to receive a Bachelors degree at Bowling Green State University in 1979. He then started his career as a human resource professional with the State of Ohio and later at Hillcrest Hospital. Afterwards, Robert became a licensed funeral director and worked at his family’s funeral home, DeJohn Flynn-Mylott. In addition to his council position, he currently works for Catholic Cemeteries.
Robert continues to reside in Mayfield Heights with his wife of 38 years, Lori, a registered nurse at Hillcrest Hospital. He has two children, Teresa and Robert “Bobby” Jr, both of whom graduated from Mayfield High School. Teresa is currently a Mayfield Heights homeowner as well.
Experience
During my 8+ years of council experience, I have served as chairman of planning and zoning committee, building committee, public works committee, and safety & transportation committee. I have been passionate in pushing for reducing city budgets, enforcing city laws and ordinances, increasing transparency, encouraging retail and corporate growth, fixing city infastructure and promoting community programming.
In addition to my accomplishments on council, I have been an active member of the Hillcrest area and have had the opportunity to volunteer for many organizations, which added to my experiences and helped prepare me for a leadership role in the community. These volunteer positions include: former member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee, parade co-chairman for Mayfield Heights Fun Days, coach and sponsor for the Mayfield Boys League and Girls Softball, member of the Mayfield High School Alumni Association, member of the Mayfield High School Class Reunion Committee, former recruitment chairman for the YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses programs, former board member for the YMCA, member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity Cleveland alumni chapter, active member and usher for St. Clare Church, member of the Association of Specialists in Aging and a volunteer for the Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum.
